The Rakyat Has Spoken

It has ended. The 12th General Election is completed, except for few minor loose ends to tied up.

BN lost a great deal, although still retaining more Parliamentary seats. The Oppositions, congratulations, you have gotten what you wanted. BN does not have two-third majority in the Parliament anymore.

So, what does this means to the rest of us?

A lot of us will want to see the promises during the campaigning period to be fulfilled. You know, lower prices on fuel and gas, flour and sugar, basically a better purchasing power all around. Few will be waiting for the promised allowances and higher basic salary. But most of all, the people is waiting for Anwar Ibrahim to rise to power again. We shall see if blood is indeed thicker and Izzah steps down to give way to beloved daddy.

We are also anxious to see if an incorruptible government ministers and officials are indeed something that can be achieved.

We are waiting for the changes to begin. Having said that, everyone will expect changes to start very soon. Good or bad, time will tell.

Time will also tell if indeed the winners, all of them, DAP, PKR, BN and PAS, really have the rakyat in their hearts. If they will work out their differences and come towards understanding for a better Malaysia. If they prepare to lose when they have to and fight to win when they need to.

Time is changing. Apparently Malaysia is going to change. Or will she? Whatever it will be, the next five years will indeed be interesting to observe. If the next five years will be the best years, I surely cannot say.

Truthfully I am a little saddened. I want a change. I want Malaysia to raise more that where she is now. But I can't help but feel a little worried seeing the prove of dissatisfaction and unrest amongst us. I am a little old fashion, yes. But I welcome changes, and hopeful changes are for the better.

So, for the winners, CONGRATULATIONS. And do remember that you're chosen by the rakyat and the will of God. Be thankful. And be ready to give back to the community. Here's to all of you! To a better Malaysia!

For the ones who lost their seats, be happy that you have done your part during the last term. And enjoy the fruit of your labour. And here's to a better Malaysia!

To quote my father, "the rakyat has spoken".

ps: I am also waiting for NO MORE TOLL PLAZA and reduce TOLL FEE!!!!! This I really like!!

Hi Jade. Thanks for dropping by my blog.

Yes, I would like to see them fulfill especially the RM6K bonus per family earning less than RM6K a month in Penang. I'm still wondering how do they plan to achieve that, or will that remain as another one of election promises unfulfilled by winners, from either side of the fence.

It is sad that it has to come to this thumping defeat for the BN, simply because I believe the BN had the correct platform to help the rakyat, but political chauvinism has reeked like cancer cells in it. The Opposition is still untried and untested, apart from in Kelantan and Terengganu (back in 1999) - and we know nothing much has been achieved there.

The next 4-5 years is going to be an interesting one.

Sorry Jade for trampling like this, I would have post it on his blog if he did not limit the access to it.

Dear Sir Seademon,

I would have to disagree with you on this, shall i say, mindset that thinks BN can do all and is the only best at it. I am of Kelantan people and I say, you "outsiders" still think that we are "undeveloped" and have achieved nothing much in the last 18 years under Tok Guru's rule. Now here are some facts which your beloved BN has not quite revealed to you as one of their believer...read this:

1) 2 days off in a week...was started by the Kelantan govt before Mahathir implemented it few years ago.

2) 60 days maternity leave for moms and 1 week leave for fathers...that was already implemented by Kelantan govt before BN gave 60 days for moms and fathers only got 3 days (correct me if i'm wrong) only recently.

3) Takaful Kifaalah is given to senior citizens (any race - including the chinese) and when they pass away, the family will receive a sum to arrange for the burial and the rest goes to the family. Just recently, Selangor govt launched the Skim Insurans Kasih which plagiarized over the same concept as Takaful Kifaalah.

4) In Kelantan - Tesco (an International giant) is confident enough to open it's store. Unlike in Kuantan where they opened once and now closed due to poor economic demands.

5) 85% spendings in Tesco KB are done in cash, and Tesco KB holds the record of getting the highest cash payment sales among all Tescos in Malaysia. (Do you still think that Kelantanese are poor?) Tesco in KB is considering on opening more branches in Kelantan.

6) The Koridor Depu was launched by Kelantan govt first before the Perak govt launched their own shortly after. Another plagiarized idea?

7) More developments to come in Kelantan - Giants, a new mall, new apartments.

You see sir, development is very subjective. You see development in building things. We see development in providing for the people. Due to limited resources and funds, the Kelantan govt have to prioritize on what is more important to do first. Taking care of the people is much more important than building new things. A caring govt cares for the people. For 18 years the govt of Kelantan has been tested, and they deliver well despite the limited resources. We develop the state at our own pace.

If you remember, Terengganu was not always under PAS rule. Before 2000, it was under BN. But then being a rich oil state, how come the town KT still does not see any changes even back when it was still under the BN rule? Mind you, I was studying in KT when it was under BN's rule. Going back to KT in 2006 still shows not much of development despite being a rich oil state (oil extracted as early as 1980's). So please explain to me where is this logic that you say BN delivers development to Terengganu before the year 2000. I would say, Kelantan sees more development than Terengganu even though they are under PAS rule since 1990 (with limited resources to spend). So my point would be BN did a lousy job in managing the oil resources then in Terengganu. Despite what you mentioned, "BN had the correct platform to help the rakyat".

But never fret, because under the Kelantan soil a reserve of black gold will be unearthed and supplies of gas will be release to the suface of the earth. Soon, we will be a rich state with rich funds, and none of those will be managed by BN. That explains why BN was so eager to capture Kelantan from PAS few days ago. Who are the BN to tell us what to do and what not to do when we control and manage the oil reserves ourselves? You tell me.

Dear Jade,
Well written there. Oh, by the way, I am your silent reader for almost a year now and I love your writing :)

I personally was hoping that BN will not win big - I want the BN leaders to wake up and really take notice of what the rakyat really wants and needs - but I never dreamt it will turn out this bad.

I hope they will learn their lesson, and we shall see what they're gonna do to win back the trust of the rakyat.

However the outcome, I hope it will benefit the rakyat.

SD: we shall see!

lich: always remember though, when you pick up a stick, both ends will be picked up. When me make a choice, there will always be pro and cons. ;-)

BlackBox: Thank you! It's great to know that there IS people reading my blabs! hehe.. Yes, we all hope whoever has the hand to rule, will benefit the rakyat, insyaAllah.

Jade, in choosing a good human being as a leader who is proven for 18 years, free of corruption, honest, trustworthy...what is the cons? I see the pros that has provided for the Kelantanese a bundance of joy and harmony. Let they be Malay, Chinese, Indians, Orang Asli, Siamese...all living in harmony, the idea of the Malaysia that everyone had dreamed of. Oh, have you set foot in Kelantan lately? And have you read my recent post about a Kelantanese Indian joining in the munajat with all the muslims? And he had also shouted the kalimah "Allahuakbar!" together with the rest of Kelantanese? You tell me Jade, can UMNO or any other party do that? Islam is great. It teaches human beings good things, even if they are non-muslims. Let's uphold that.

Lich, you are right. Islam is perfect. Allah is perfect. Don't get me wrong, I never said it isn't. It's the people and the political parties. THESE are not perfect.

When I talk about picking u a stick, the pro and cons, it's not about being defensive or attacking in nature. It's about realising that we should not forget, end of the day, the people we choose are still humans. We should not be extremist. That's all.

Peace and blessed be.
