I went for facial session yesterday evening. This time, I ventured into Clarins Beauty Institute in KLCC. So today, I want to share with you my experience. Lovely, enchanting experience.
The first thing that they told me when I asked if they have empty slot for walk-in customer was: "we don't do any extraction during our facial and we don't use any machine, we only use Clarins technique". I was fine with that since I don't like the pain I have to bear either.
Since it was my first time, they made me fill up my particulars as per norm. Next, I was immediately whisked into the treatment room where I was asked to change and get ready for skin analysis. The session started of with the beautician giving me a short lecture on how I am not taking good care of my skin. She checked for my skin elasticity and moisture level by softly pinching and lifting the facial skin. And the conclusion: My skin is at its average condition but it could use more moisture. I'll get this comment anywhere I go, so. She recommended "Hydration from Madagascar" treatment. (I was immediately visualising the "I Like to Move It" clip from the cartoon).
The treatment started with relaxation technique. This was where the beautician helped my body to achieve total relaxation by loosening the muscle on my body; she started to shake both my legs gently and gradually moving upwards until the head. This was repeated twice. After, she started to perform the cleansing with a certain massage technique. She applied scrub and later masque.
I couldn't really describe the experience one after another because I was in total relaxation which made me sometimes aware and sometimes blissfully unaware. But never once the treatment induced pain; because there was no extraction done. There was a lot of facial massage being done.
The facial treatment also comes with hand and arm treatment (scrub and massage) and also scalp and shoulder massage. I have to say for RM198 this is truly an excellent treatment. I came out from the treatment room feeling revitalised and refreshed.
Later, she thought me a little on Clarins facial revitalising techniques which is done after applying your facial serum. This will help the serum to penetrate better and also the assist in lymphatic drainage. Obviously, this extra step adds another couple of minutes into my otherwise simplistic skin care routine.
All in all I have to say that facial in Clarins is one of the best so far that I have experienced. Its close rival being Sothys in Bangsar Village II. Will I go again? Most definitely.

Face Off!
Yesterday, le soir, I went for facial at Leonard Drake MidValley. This is under the same company that brings us Dermalogica, Bioxil, Eve Taylor, Averine and Clinelle. Admittedly, I really need a corrective treatment after being neglecting to care for it. My skin is congested, and I don't need the beautician to tell me that, I can feel it myself.
In this post, I'd like to share my insights on my experience. When I first walked into the salon, nobody greeted me. It was only until I walked to the counter, the staff who was sitting in the room next to it saw me. She sat me down and explain the treatments they have. We check my skin under the UV light; nothing I've never experienced before.
I chose to do the Soothing Aroma facial under the corrective treatment and Total Eye Care Plus treatment.
Leonard Drake salons provides you a locker to keep all your stuff and your clothes. This is a plus point because at least, your things are locked away. The treatment room is not as cozy as the room in Sothys, if I may say so. In the latter, you can feel the luxurious surrounding, but in Leonard Drake, it's spartan.
The treatment starts with the beautician asking me to inhale lavender oil for calming effect. After that, she removes traces of make up and powder. She did the double cleansing routine, layering one after another. And then without washing off the cleanser, she started to put on the scrub. While cleansing and scrubbing is done, the steamer is at work. At the same time, she was also doing a milder cleansing around my eyes area. She then washed off the cleanser and scrub using room temperature water.
She left the steamer on my face for a while more. Then come the torturous part; the extraction. I have to say, she was the roughest so far in my experience. It was the first time I actually cringed when undergoing extraction process. I told her not to it so hard, but I don't think she actually heed me. She just said that extraction is supposed to be painful (WTH?!). Then she cleansed my face and asked me to see the result. She was sort of validating why it hurt during the extraction; she blamed my blackheads for being small and tiny. :-p
After, came the relaxing part, the massage. The massage on the face and eye areas were done with the special serum for each. For the shoulder and upper chest area with aromatherapy oil. Once she finished with this, she starts to apply the hydrating masque for the eye area and the face. Two different masque, for two different spots (remember the separate eye treatment). These were top off with a cold masque on top. She left me for about 20 minutes.
When she came back, she took off the masque and started to pat my face all over. She sprayed the toner and pat it in. Put on eye cream and moisturiser for the face. And I was done. The whole treatment took about 90 minutes, I think.
Now, these are the things that I noticed during my visit there:

- The staff was slow in attending to you, not really friendly greeting either
- There's a lack of privacy while you're in the treatment room, the beautician always left the door opened when she goes out from the room, and sometimes, even when she's in the room
- They didn't offer you a drink until after you've finished the treatment, and even then it was only plain cold water
- The company has the policy not to accept Debit card, eventhough you're using VISA Debit (this is really weird, when I could use my Cherry card even when I was in Paris!)

New Look
I was bored.
I went to The Curve yesterday. Got my hair restyled. At Jean Yip Salon. The cost? Outrageous. Although I like the way my hair turned out. Thank God for that.
Today, I read reviews on the salon, which originated from Singapore. 90% of the reviews were bad! I guess I am lucky that nothing bad happened to my hair.
I will certainly visit Monsoon-ID in One Utama for follow-up treatments.
Yesterday, I took the re-bonding package (incl. hair end treatment and scalp care) + hair cut & spa treatment + after chemical hair treatment. Like I said, the cost was outrageous.
The hairstylist was Jeannie. Although she does a very good job, I don't really like it when she started to sell more. She kept on asking me to add things to do to the hair. And I tell you, you have to know where to stop. Not long after I agreed for the additional hair treatment, she started to promote their scalp treatment because she said my scalp is oily. I just listened and told her I'll do it some other time. Later she promoted a package, at five times the cost I'm paying. I said no, thank you. While my hair was being washed, the assistant tried to get me to take the scalp treatment. I said no again. When I was about to pay, Jeannie said she has new package offer for me which costs half of the initial offer. I still said no and paid the fee for the services rendered.
One thing that salons need to know is that, some people go there to just pamper themselves every once in a while. And when they plan to do that, they've already planned to spend a certain amount. While there's nothing wrong to try to get more sale, these people also need to know when to stop and let the customer enjoy the visit and services. I for one, dislike the "extra" effort to get me to spend more.

So, my crown is bouncy and shiny now. Soft, smooth and silky. I sound like ad on TV.
Let's talk about money. No one in their right mind in the world won't be concern about 'em green papers. I know, I know. All harta dunia. But without it, it can be quite difficult. Because money talks.
Yes, Jade is being materialistic again. With a reason, of course. Besides, I'm just being practical. Why do you work anyway? For money right? And why do we need it? To pay our bills, house and car. To ensure our kids get the best education they can. To fulfill our parents dreams that they put aside when they brought us up. All that requires money. It's just practical.
So it all comes back to this. How do I get more of them? What should I do? How can I earn more by doing something that I like? Is there anyone out there who's willing to give me the opportunity? Those are the questions that I ask myself almost every day. I realise having nine to five job, or rather eight thirty to five thirty job will not be able to give me everything that I want. I need to do something else. But where do I start? How do I start? Can someone show me the way?
Owh by the way. If you have any MLM ideas whatsoever, let's not. I rather not. Please.

pps: I had it done at MonsoonID in Hartamas Shopping Centre. The damage? RM309. I went there instead of the branch in OU because they have lesser crowd. To quote the stylist, "Good for you, bad for us because less customer mah..." But he, the stylist, was very, very good. He's detailed and precise. I like his work. Capal Perak likes his work.

Saturday Outing
I'm in the midst of getting an upgrade. Courtesy of Capal Perak. Bak kata orang dolu-dolu, kecil tapak tangan, nyiru saya tadahkan. He said he wants me to feel beautiful. But I suspect it's his need to see his girl looking like the japanese models and artistes that he drools upon. Too bad I can't get any skinnier or fairer, eh? ROTFL. But don't tell him I say this, because he will be supremely insulted. :-p
I cannot keep still. It has been two hours and my legs are cramping. Duh. I am using his MacBook, blogging while waiting for the chemical to set. And I chased him out of the salon. Go la jalan-jalan I said. He went for about 10 minutes and came back saying there's nothing to see. We're in Hartamas Shopping Centre. Reason being, I'm running away from the weekend crowd. But seems like it does not do any favour to his lordship because there's nothing to amuse him.
Had to stop for a while just now to wash off. Saw his silhouette through the sheer curtain separating the washing area and sitting area. He left the salon to go out again. Kesian. I did warn him it's going to take hours. But he wants the adventure.
I'm bored. Seriously. More chemicals are being put on my hair. Mati la mak.
Tomorrow, there's a family gathering. BIG family gathering on my father's side. That means, all the aunties and uncles, the cousins and second cousins, nieces and nephews. All under one roof. This year it'll be in Setiawangsa. I'm thinking of cooking pasta to bring to tomorrow's potluck. Mak agrees because it's the fastest, easiest meal to do. Not to mention I make a very good bolognese sauce. Just throw everything into the pot.
I have the urge to.. urmm.. pee. Man... this is a torture. My hair is being steamed now. Ouch. Ouch. Auww... Can feel the hot air on the back of my neck. Should adjust my head a bit. Ouch. Okay, that should settle it, even if I look a bit short-necked. Ha ha ha.. Jade is getting cuckoo because she cannot go and relieve herself.
I wonder why the steamer looks different now. You know the hose to your vacuum cleaner? Hmm.... they attach that to the steamer machine and the steam is oozing out from it. I look like a cartoon character on Disney Channel. Steam is coming out from my head. All around my head, in fact. Ha ha ha.. ROTFL.
Hmm... come to think of it... it's minor facial too, since the steam sort of envelope my face as well.
He's back. He's so bored now he's plugging his iPod and reading. I am left on my own device. Muahahaha...
I shall update again later this evening...
